Ah beautiful - a ripe tomato. This is not the first fruit but it is the first picture I managed to get this year as the kids (okay and myself) keep popping these earlies into our mouths.
Many people will recognize this gem of a fruit as the reason they got so hooked on backyard vegetables. On my favourite plant forum, Homegrown Goodness, in a post about garden related songs, was a youtube link to Homegrown Tomatoes by John Denver. You MUST listen.

Nice tomato!
There's a song by The Spill Canvas called "Gateway Drug" that's a huge favorite of mine.
Tomatoes may hook you, but wait until you try the harder stuff of broccoli, oh me oh my.
I made a kid wait until I'd taken a picture before she could chomp the first bean of the season, so I know what you mean!
Getting the harvest photographed before consumption can be a real challenge - especially with berries and ripe tomatoes!
Gateway veggie, oh I like it.
Stefaneener - I haven't tried growing broccoli yet, but you're scaring me with the "harder than tomato" talk!
That song was too cute. Folks really do love their tomatoes.
I think a lot of people get into gardening with the tomato. A lot of veggies taste better out of the garden, but the difference between a supermarket tomato and a homegrown one is like tasting two different vegetables.
Definitely a gateway veggie. :-> And you have a charmer there!
Tomatoes are more difficult to grow than a lot of gardeners realize or can bring themselves to admit. When I was a master gardener we had a really big fat book all about everything that can afflict tomato plants, it's a wonder that anyone has the fortitude to grow them. Broccoli is much easier to grow in light of that...
