Somebody doesn't like me

So this is the second time I have taken down a post. The first time was when someone got annoyed with me about writing about how much I liked lasagna beds as this saw this as a direct attack on something they had written. It's a long story but at the time, I didn't think it was worth it. Now, I have a whole series on it if you want to reach (on the sidebar - no dig gardening).

This is the second time. Someone called me a liar! I was a little aggravated because I had just spent all morning hunting down references to make sure I wasn't being a 'liar.' In order to get my facts right, I deleted several links, including the prediction by The Weather Network for near normal temps but wet weather this spring, thinking it redundant. Despite being told over and over by various sources that we are were headed for a possibly delayed spring, including longer than average periods of cold and wet, I think I was the victim of the Weather News Scare. Most of Ontario, apparently, does not include much of Eastern Ontario so for the time being, we may be spared the cold aspect. Of course the longterm forecast is a carefully calculated statistically educated 'guess.' I am using the word loosely so we will see.

What upset me was that someone chose (without leaving their name) to accuse me of intentionally misleading people. I am not infallible. I do make mistakes though I try hard not too. Not only that, but I was trying to make a cheery post about making the best of what you are given.

Ah well. I tried.

News Stories: Toronto Sun - Cold Spring Ahead for Canadians
CBC reports: Environment Canada Forecasts Colder than Normal Spring
Environment Canada image of 3 month forecast - colder than normal for much of Canada, including Ontario
differs from The Weather Network that predicts near normal for temperatures for much of Canada

Bah! Let the grumpipuss continue to be miserable. Your posts are great and I love your blog.

Screw 'em.

Screw 'em. There are people out there that are glad to have a local and active blog about gardening in Ottawa. Thanks for all the writing you do.

Thanks guys. I feel bad about ever unintentionally misleading people. Sigh. Serves me right for hitting the publish button quickly this morning. I do have other things to do :) Ah well, some of the rest of Canada has my sympathies then. ;)

I've had a few attacks over the years, but I just ignore them and delete the comments so nobody else even sees them. After all, it's my blog, not theirs, and if they don't like what I write, then don't bother to read it. Go write your own blog, Grumpy! And you, young lady, just keep on doing what you're doing, because the other 99.9% of us love it!

Really??? Some people have way too much time on their hands (see also: people who comment on the cbc news site). Thanks for all of your tips!

I say go ahead and say what you want, it's your blog! (which I enjoy very much BTW). There is a little trash can you can put the offender's comments in. :) i have had to do that a time or two.

Thanks for your support guys. I guess I should have just deleted it and edited the error in the post but I genuinely wouldn't want to mislead anyone. Serves me right for not quadruple checking to see if Eastern Ontario is being a weather rebel. Actually a post on the specifics of our climate would be cool. I'll see if I can hunt down someone knowledgeable to give me the low down!

I agree with Granny, ignore them. It's your blog. Write what you want! And if they had a problem with what you're writing they should at least not be "anonymous".

Don't let them get you down.

Meh, I think you could have left the article up and just put a disclaimer in front of it. You can't please everybody, and you sure don't need to. I enjoyed that article and it cheered me up for sure. Keep up the good writing!

I agree with Granny, just delete them and do what you want to do!! Some people have nothing better to do then criticize others!

Who cares if this person doesn't like you...WE DO!!!

I was really interested with what you wrote. But when I looked at the Canada weather forecast map, I decided I wasn't sure if it would affect me here in NH. Then I remembered that it may not matter one way or another since spring will be delayed for sure by the 2 feet of snow on the garden :)

Keep up the good writing!

Thank you so much guys. I did not expect this much response for my apology/explanation why I took down a post. It means a lot to me.

You've got a great blog, and your post had inspired me to do some weather researching.

Delete the obnoxious posts and write what you like.

I'm with Granny. It's your blog. If it is just being mean delete the comment and move on. Sometimes I'll allow a nasty comment to stay if I think they have something valid to say. Or I might put an addendum correction, but I've yet to take down a page. Well except when I accidentally post it too soon and I hadn't finished it. Oh how many times that has happened. We do love you.

In your gardening news, seedy Saturday has the 6th as the date. The Saturday is the 5th.

Cheers,

Oh the irony. Thanks Steve! Corrected. This means that people can go to Seedy Saturday in Ottawa and Seedy Sunday in Perth. Yay!

There are so many cranks and weirdos out there it never ceases to amaze me. Can you imagine take ANY weather prediction for granted? That's why they're called Predictions and Forecasts. Can you sense the Italics there:) I've only been blogging for a few months but I've had nothing but porn spam. Send that loser my way!
